Background Information

Snow in 24 Hours reports the amount of snow that has fallen over the last 24 hour time period at the time of observation.

The Water Equivalent measurement refers to the total melted amount of water that has fallen in the last 24 hours. Generally, 1 cm of snow has a melted water equivalent of 1 mm. Sometimes rain and other forms of precipitation that occur with the snow are included in this measurement.

Snow Depth refers to the amount of snow currently on the ground. The snow depth measurement is taken once a day.

The snow depth in the table above may differ from that showing on the snow map. The table reports snow depth from an observation station, while the map reflects an average snow depth for an area.
